It’s Gotta Be Mudgee!

We know how awesome Mudgee is, and food and wine lovers of Sydney will this week be privy to just how great our region is when the Mudgee region is put on show at the Pyrmont Festival of Wine, Food and Art between today and the 27th of May 2012.

This Sunday’s free outdoor Wine and Food fair is set to be a hit with locals, being held at Pirrama Park, with wine tasting, fine food and produce stands and plenty to tantalise just about any palette, and of course Mudgee will be at the centre of it all!

Other events taking place as part of the festival include dinners, cheese master classes, long lunches, tours and art exhibitions, all revolving around the great products that come out of our very own country town. If you know of people in Sydney that are keen wine connoisseurs, love great food, or who appreciate art, then please share this post with them.

Hats off to the Mudgee Wine Region industry for collaborating with the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sydney to put on the event, which is aimed at introducing a little bit of country and showcase the origins of great food, wine and art to city folk and hopefully boosting tourism in the Mudgee region.

Tickets Still Available for this Weekend!

If you haven’t already got your tickets to one of Mudgee’s major annual events – Go Grazing – then you’re in luck because you can still get tickets, even though the event is on this Saturday!

If you’re a bit of a wine connoisseur or fancy a nibble on great foods made from locally produced goods, then Mudgee’s Go Grazing event should definitely be on your calendar! Not only will you find Mudgee’s regional wines from leading winemakers, you’ll also find some of the best matching foods to go with quality selections of red and white wines, not to mention the glass of bubbles you receive on arrival to the event.

Held this Saturday, 21st of April 2012 at the Mudgee Showgrounds, and at a very reasonable ticket price of $70 per person (plus $2 booking fee for online purchases), Go Grazing is one of Mudgee’s best food and wine events – we’ve always had fun when we’ve been there!

You can purchase tickets from the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre online or call 6372 1020. Click on the image below to visit the Mudgee Wine website for all of the information!

**Please note that there is an error on the banner above, the venue is actually the Mudgee Showground**

Other events in Mudgee this weekend:

Tickets are still available for Sunday’s Country vs City Origin match at Glen Willow Sporting Complex that we wrote about a couple of weeks ago – get your tickets here!

Plus there’s also the Mudgee Races on this Saturday as well – and we know very well that the Mudgee races are very popular, and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends.

What an action packed weekend we have here in Mudgee this weekend… never a dull moment!

Gooree Cup & Mudgee Dragons Weekend

We want to make a weekend of the Gooree Cup coming up in early May 2012, combined with first Mudgee Dragons home game at Glen Willow Oval the day before. Now that’s what we call a weekend of fun and entertainment!

Saturday the 5th of May is the Mudgee Dragons’ first home game of the season, and with the new developments that have taken place at Glen Willow, there’s bound to be a bit of a crowd. For those that are coming in to support the opposition, and for locals as well, it’s a great opportunity to stay on for the Gooree Cup race day on Sunday the 6th of May.

As part of Racing NSW’s “Saddle Up Sundays” campaign, the Gooree Cup is featuring all the trimming and pre-event glamour, including cocktail party, equine art exhibition, high tea and fashion parade, tours of Gooree Park Stud & Winery (sponsors of the event) and VIP race day lunch.

As part of the weekend of sport, local businesses are encouraged to embrace the atmosphere by decorating offices and shops in racing and/or Dragons theme during the week leading up to the events.

We would love to see the community actively promote the weekend of the 5th and 6th of May, and encourage family and friends to come along to support our local Mudgee Dragons team, as well as local racing at the Mudgee Racecourse. We’re passionate about both sports and hope to see you there! Now is the time to start organising travel, accommodation and what you’re going to wear or decorate your business in!

A Day On The Green Post Event Wrap Up!

Mudgee couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better line up of performers for this year’s Day On The Green, which took place this weekend at the Robert Oatley Vineyard.

Those who were lucky enough to get a ticket (which sold out insanely quickly) lapped up the atmosphere and the incredible performances from entertainers Kasey Chambers an Cold Chisel to name just a couple.

If you weren’t there, then you’d better make sure you keep an eye on our blog for information about the next one, because if it’s anything like this year, it’ll be sold out again once tickets go on sale.

It’s one of Mudgee’s most popular events, and one that you’ll want to go back to year after year.

Check out some of the photos on the Mudgee Guardian’s photo gallery.

Stay tuned for more photos coming soon!!

Mudgee MotorFest 2011

If you’re a car enthusiast, have a love of all things motoring, then you’re in for a treat in a couple of weeks, because Cudgegong Cruisers Inc are coming to town for their third annual MotorFest.

You’ll see all kinds of vintage, classic and very cool cars rocking around town, with people coming from far and wide to bring their machines to Mudgee. If you’re anywhere near AREC (Australian Rural Education Centre) you’ll probably hear the rumble of mufflers for the three day event from October 14 to 16.

Let’s show all of our out-of-town visitors how great Mudgee is and show them the meaning of real hospitality. I can’t wait to see some of the cool vehicles that will be driving around the streets of Mudgee!

Mudgee Wine Festival 2011 – Still To Come

Well the 2011 Mudgee Wine Festival is in full swing and we can talk from experience… it’s one of the best times of year to be in Mudgee! And although the festival has been going since the 9th of September, there’s still plenty of entertainment yet to come!

Tonight’s “Biggest Dinner Party” will surely be the talk of the town tomorrow, with the taste sensations of some of our favourite restaurants being served up to those lucky enough to get bookings. Sajo’s, Mudgee Brewing Co, Manana and Butcher Shop Café are some of the many fantastic places to eat when you’re in Mudgee, so if you’re a visitor, make sure you look them up next time you’re in town.

If you haven’t yet booked in your team to play golf on Monday in the Mudgee Wine Festival Ambrose Golf Tournament, then you’d better hurry… there may not be any team spots left! If I wasn’t going to be in Sydney for a conference, I would definitely have been there!

And what better way to cap off a sensational month of food and wine, than with the Go Grazing event held at the Mudgee Racecourse on Saturday the 24th. For $70 a person, you’ll have an evening of great wines, matched up with great food, and of course share it with great company! You can find all of the information you need using the links above, or download the Online Festival Guide.
