Who is your pick for the Mudgee Cup?

Mudgee CupIt’s that time of the year when all Mudgee residents feel the buzz of excitement in the air, and all the talk on the street is of one very special Mudgee event… That’s right – it’s time for the Mudgee Cup!

This Friday, December 6, the Mudgee Cup will be run in front of a crowd of thousands, who gather each and every year to celebrate Mudgee’s unofficial public holiday.  It is by far the biggest race day on the region’s calendar – and why wouldn’t it be?!  It’s a day of fun, fashion and partying.  Many of our local Mudgee businesses choose the Mudgee Cup as the venue for their office Christmas parties, with marquees lining the straight as far as the eye can see.  There really is nothing else like it anywhere in the region.

The Mudgee Cup is worth a whopping $30,000 in prize money this year, and there are a few local trainers in the mix for the 1600m feature race – Max Crockett with Lancelot, Brett Thompson with Excited Lover, and Tracey Bartley with Strace.  All have been super impressive in recent races, and our team at Professionals Mudgee Real Estate know it would be a great thrill to see one of our local trainers take out ‘The Cup’.  Of course it’s fresh in our memories that the past two Mudgee Cups were won by locally owned Spy Zaim, trained by Tracey Bartley… wouldn’t it be great to add another Mudgee name to the winners list!

We hope to see all our Mudgee friends out celebrating this fantastic Mudgee event, and hopefully picking a winner or two along the way.

Will you be at the Mudgee Cup this Friday?

What’s on this weekend in Mudgee?

Adam & Chandelle Woods, Mudgee RacesIf you live in Mudgee or are planning a visit to the region this weekend, you may be wondering how to take in the sights, tastes and excitement of Mudgee in just two days.  Here’s our suggestion…

This Saturday at Gooree Park experience a Gooree Park Cup Weekend Stud and Wine Tour Package.   Enjoy a guided tour through Gooree Park for an hour and a half, beginning at either 9am or 11am, then put your feet up and relax with mouth watering wine tasting session, accompanied by cheese and crackers.  Group bookings are able to be arranged, or just pay $25 per head and enjoy a day out with a loved one.

Once you’ve filled your Saturday unwinding and tantalising your tastebuds, you’ll be ready to partake in all the excitement of the track on Sunday.  Gooree Mile Race Day starts at 1pm at Mudgee Racecourse, and it promises to be a day jam-packed with racing action and entertainment.  As huge supporters of the Mudgee Races, our Professionals Mudgee Real Estate team would love to see all Mudgee residents down at the track enjoying the fun and sensational atmosphere Mudgee racing always provides.

Who is heading down to the track this weekend?

How do you celebrate Easter in Mudgee?

EasterThis year it seems Easter will be coming earlier than usual, with Easter Sunday falling on March 31.  With less than a month to prepare, we thought we’d give Mudgee residents a helping hand and share a few fun Easter ideas.

Blowing & Decorating Eggs – This is a great idea for people who like to do craft or are looking for a fun activity to do with their children.  Simply pierce both ends of an egg, and use a skewer to widen the holes enough so that when you blow into one side of the egg, the contents will come out the other side.  Expect a few egg casualties to break along the way and not make it to the decoration stage.  You may choose to dye your eggs, or use paints, stickers and decorations to give the eggs new life and make them look fantastic.

But what can you do with all these gorgeous Easter Eggs?

Easter Egg Pinata – As a follow-up to your blown egg idea, why not fill the blown eggs with mini m&m’s and seal them up as an Easter gift.  Your friends/children will love finding the chocolate goodies inside when they crack the shell!

Easter Tree – Well we’ve all heard of Christmas trees at Christmas time, so why not let the leafy tradition continue into Easter?   All you need is a bare branch which you can spray paint white (or any other colour you wish), place it in a small pot/tin with a foam block to fit (you may need to use sand to keep it in place), and decorate your tree with your beautifully decorated blown eggs.  This makes for a fantastic centre piece when hosting Easter lunch.

Don’t forget the Mudgee Races will be on Easter Sunday, which will be a great day out for Mudgee families with a jumping castle, fashions in the field and Easter giveaways for the children, a live band, racing, and women’s fashions in the field for mum and dad. Gates will  be open from 12, so come along and enjoy a day of fun in the sun.

Let us know your Easter traditions.  What does your family do to celebrate Easter in Mudgee?

Who’s Coming To The Mudgee Cup?

With December fast approaching our team at Professionals Mudgee Real Estate have noticed anticipation in the air and a certain buzz of excitement around town that can only mean one thing – the Mudgee Cup has almost arrived!

On Friday the 7th of December Mudgee families, residents, workers and friends are invited to join in on all the fun of Robert Oatley Vineyards Mudgee Cup.  For those who have only recently moved to Mudgee, Mudgee Cup is a massive community event which continually draws a crowd in excess of 5,000 people.  At only $15 per ticket, there is simply no other event like it in the area.  In short, if you’re only going to frock up for one event a year, make it the Mudgee Cup!

If you’re yet to decide where to host your work Christmas party this year, why not spoil your staff with a day of fun and festivities on and off the track.  Nothing says “thanks for all your hard work” like a day out at a picturesque track with beautiful horses from all corners of the state competing, a modern bar full of refreshments, live band, on-course bookmakers and TAB facilities, as well as the ever-glamorous fashions on the field.  All private marquees have now sold out; however, dining packages with air-conditioned private seating are still available if you’d like to enjoy the day in comfort and style.

Our very own Adam Woods has been on the Mudgee Cup race committee for the past 8 years, and Deputy Chairman for the past 3, and he believes this year’s $25,000 Cup will be the best yet!

Don’t waste another minute!  Gather your family, friends and/or work colleagues, and get ready to party at the track.  Please contact Colleen on 6372 3490 for more information or to book a seating package, or feel free to come along on race day with your mates and buy your tickets at the door.

Tickets Still Available for this Weekend!

If you haven’t already got your tickets to one of Mudgee’s major annual events – Go Grazing – then you’re in luck because you can still get tickets, even though the event is on this Saturday!

If you’re a bit of a wine connoisseur or fancy a nibble on great foods made from locally produced goods, then Mudgee’s Go Grazing event should definitely be on your calendar! Not only will you find Mudgee’s regional wines from leading winemakers, you’ll also find some of the best matching foods to go with quality selections of red and white wines, not to mention the glass of bubbles you receive on arrival to the event.

Held this Saturday, 21st of April 2012 at the Mudgee Showgrounds, and at a very reasonable ticket price of $70 per person (plus $2 booking fee for online purchases), Go Grazing is one of Mudgee’s best food and wine events – we’ve always had fun when we’ve been there!

You can purchase tickets from the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre online or call 6372 1020. Click on the image below to visit the Mudgee Wine website for all of the information!

**Please note that there is an error on the banner above, the venue is actually the Mudgee Showground**

Other events in Mudgee this weekend:

Tickets are still available for Sunday’s Country vs City Origin match at Glen Willow Sporting Complex that we wrote about a couple of weeks ago – get your tickets here!

Plus there’s also the Mudgee Races on this Saturday as well – and we know very well that the Mudgee races are very popular, and a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends.

What an action packed weekend we have here in Mudgee this weekend… never a dull moment!

Gooree Cup & Mudgee Dragons Weekend

We want to make a weekend of the Gooree Cup coming up in early May 2012, combined with first Mudgee Dragons home game at Glen Willow Oval the day before. Now that’s what we call a weekend of fun and entertainment!

Saturday the 5th of May is the Mudgee Dragons’ first home game of the season, and with the new developments that have taken place at Glen Willow, there’s bound to be a bit of a crowd. For those that are coming in to support the opposition, and for locals as well, it’s a great opportunity to stay on for the Gooree Cup race day on Sunday the 6th of May.

As part of Racing NSW’s “Saddle Up Sundays” campaign, the Gooree Cup is featuring all the trimming and pre-event glamour, including cocktail party, equine art exhibition, high tea and fashion parade, tours of Gooree Park Stud & Winery (sponsors of the event) and VIP race day lunch.

As part of the weekend of sport, local businesses are encouraged to embrace the atmosphere by decorating offices and shops in racing and/or Dragons theme during the week leading up to the events.

We would love to see the community actively promote the weekend of the 5th and 6th of May, and encourage family and friends to come along to support our local Mudgee Dragons team, as well as local racing at the Mudgee Racecourse. We’re passionate about both sports and hope to see you there! Now is the time to start organising travel, accommodation and what you’re going to wear or decorate your business in!

Melbourne Cup, Mudgee Style!

Melbourne Cup is almost here again, so if you haven’t already organised what you and your work team or family are going to do on Tuesday 1st of November 2011, then it’s time to start making plans for the race that stops a nation!

While the majority of racing enthusiasts like ourselves won’t get the chance to witness the live Melbourne Cup race at Flemington Racecourse this year, there are always plenty of events taking place around Mudgee where you can get dressed up and enjoy a champagne lunch with friends.

There are wineries, restaurants and pubs galore around Mudgee that are holding special functions especially for Melbourne Cup, but because it’s not far away, you’ll need to do a ring around to check availability because our guess is that a number of places will already be fully booked for the afternoon.

If you’re keen for something a little lower key, you can always get together with friends, gather around the TV and have your own little celebration in the comfort of yours or someone elses living room.

Either way we’re sure most Mudgee race enthusiasts, and even those that only take an interest for one day of the year, will be enjoying the atmosphere that the Melbourne Cup brings out around Mudgee. If you have any hot tips, be sure to let us know too!

We’re Off and Racing – We Promise!

Well, last time we blogged about an upcoming race-meet it was called off due to massive flooding on the course. No excuses this time, though! Things are looking good for tomorrow’s race meeting and if you fancy a fun day out with friends then it’s the must-do social event in Mudgee this weekend.

The Hamilton island charity races happen every year and it’s not only a great chance to get out amongst it with your friends, it allows locals to support a great cause. If you’re not the racing type then there’s no need to worry, as usual there will be plenty of fun, fashion and live entertainment off the field to keep everyone entertained.

If you feel like ‘mixing it up’ (literally!) the head to Vinifera Wines this Saturday morning for their MP3 wars; get some friends and a short mp3 playlist together and battle your fellow revellers as you sip on fine Mudgee wine, eat delicious tapas and knock on for a few rounds of Croquet.
