Popular Mudgee property office joins McGrath network

One of Mudgee’s most well-known real estate offices, Professionals Mudgee, has joined leading residential real estate group McGrath Estate Agents.

McGrath Central Tablelands is the first McGrath office for the NSW Central Tablelands and its sales manager Adam Woods says the move will help them expand their service in the region.

“By partnering with McGrath, I believe we can take our business to even greater heights locally, providing a sophisticated service to both buyers and sellers and we are excited about the opportunities ahead for our business and our clients.” said Mr Woods.

McGrath Founder and Executive Director John McGrath said opening its first office in the Central Tablelands region was a strategic and considered move as the company continues its expansion into new regions.

“We are excited to be expanding into this new market as we see opportunities for growth in this semi- rural area. I believe there is a strong synergy between Sydney and Mudgee, making it a natural fit for the McGrath brand.”

Being a popular tree-change destination, Mudgee has experienced healthy price growth over the past five years with house values rising by 15.4 per cent to $378,000, according to CoreLogic RP Data February 2017.

“Mudgee and its surrounds are becoming increasingly sought after as buyers recognise the value and lifestyle on offer. Mudgee has long been popular with downsizers however we are now seeing more young families moving to the area, attracted to the selection of quality schools, parks and green spaces and strong sense of community,” said Mr Adam Woods.

McGrath Central Tablelands is led by Principals Denis and Helen Woods, who bring with them more than 30 years of industry experience, with Sales Manager Adam Woods leading their sales team.

Together they will continue to offer the first-rate property service the Mudgee community has come to expect.

McGrath Central Tablelands is located at 79 Church Street, Mudgee NSW. Phone: (02) 6372 2584.

Friday Feast – Butcher Shop Café

Butcher Shop Café

We visited on 04-11-16

Friday Feast – The team headed up the main street of town to the ever popular Butcher Shop Cafe. The concrete floor and tiles to the ceiling remind you of its former life as a butchery, providing some of the finest meat to Mudgee. Now it provides the daily staple of freshly roasted coffee and simple food to match. James O’Neill has created a fantastic place for locals to catch up or for tourists to relax and unwind.

The Butcher Shop Cafe prides itself on in-house roasting of the coffee beans, giving your cappuccino or latte real strength and freshness. The all-day breakfast menu is extensive with choices of cheese or Italian style omelettes, butchers benedict with bacon & tomato, buttermilk pancakes or toasted muesli with fruit, honey & yoghurt. If you’re up for a challenge at lunch time, order the Skyscraper Burger with chips. For those with a smaller appetite, there is the butcher’s burger with bacon & cheese, lamb burger with minted yoghurt, prawn pasta, Caesar salad or a selection of sandwiches & melts.

Open 7 days a week, the Butcher Shop Cafe is in a prime location whether you are grabbing a take away coffee or taking time out to dine in.

Cheers,

Sutho

Friday Feast – Alby & Esther’s

Alby & Esther’s

We visited on 14-10-16

The team headed off to Alby + Esthers for their Friday Feast. There is nothing better than getting out of the office for lunch and the sun drenched courtyard was a prime position.

Owner and licensee Leigh Sargent has created a menu with a strong local accent, uncomplicated and delicious food. All dishes are generously proportioned and memorable, like the house made beans with ham hock and poached egg, the famous jaffle with smoked ham, egg and swiss cheese or the new Alby Sandwich with chicken, bacon, cheese, beetroot relish and horseradish cream.

Everyday there is a beautiful selection of freshly baked cakes, muffins and tarts. Enjoy the locally roasted coffee from Yarrabin Road roasters, or for something refreshing choose from the Crave Natural kombucha or the Hello Lovelies cordials.

The only downside of the day was that we were too early to enjoy a cleansing ale or a chilled glass of wine. Alby + Esthers turns into a Tapas Wine Bar on Friday and Saturday evenings, offering share platters with a selection of beers, ciders, apertifs & wines. Locals Manners Wine, Burnbrae Wines, LOWE Wines & Heslop Wines head the list.

Open Monday to Saturday from 8am, come and enjoy breakfast, lunch & dinner!

Cheers,

Sutho

Café 89

Man down, man down!! We were missing one of the troops today, however we still headed out for the Friday Feast. Café 89 was our place of choice today, and it did not disappoint. The place was buzzing with patrons choosing to either sit indoors or enjoy the sun-drenched footpath dining. Jo and her team provide a wonderful selection of hearty meals catering for breakfast (all day) and lunch. Two of us chose the steak sandwich with roasted mushroom, Swiss cheese and caramelised onions, whilst our counterpart savoured the 89 chicken burger with honey mustard mayo, all served with chips. Other options include corn fritter stack, Spanish baked eggs and the 89 beef burger. The all day breakfast menu is extensive with choices of eggs Benedict, smoked salmon omelette, a healthy breakkie stack or the big breakfast.

Momenti coffee is a huge hit with caffeine aficionados, whilst other drink choices include Tea Tonic – Australia’s Healthiest Tea Range, milkshakes or freshly squeezed juices.

Café 89 (supporting Pink Up Mudgee) has something for everyone whether it’s breakfast, lunch or morning & afternoon tea. Come down and see why this café is so popular.

Friday Feast – Paragon Hotel

Paragon Hotel

We visited on 09-12-16

Just for a change the team headed for a counter meal at the Paragon Hotel for the Friday Feast. Unfortunately it was only 1pm on Friday so we could not enjoy a frost amber ale, however an icy cold squash and a quality pub meal did the job. Paul Osseweyer provides a great meal and that is evident by the amount of tradies in there during lunch hours.

Roast pork & veges, schnitzel & chips, beef burger or lamb cutlets, whatever your appetite, it will be satisfied here at The Paragon Hotel. Even if you’re not hungry, call in for a beer and a chat!

Cheers till next time,

Sutho

Friday Feast – Wineglass Bar & Grill

Wineglass Bar & Grill

We visited on 20-09-16

Friday Feast – The team headed to The Wineglass Bar & Grill to savour the delicious menu. Owner and Chef Scott Tracey provides many options that will appeal to all appetites. Select from the $11 lunch specials which include steak sandwich, an Italian pizza with prawns or a fresh Caesar salad. Or for those that want something a little more upmarket, try the chicken risotto, the seafood linguine or the slow roasted pork belly.

If lunch is not for you, why not start the day with a sumptuous breakfast. Choose from hot cakes with honeycomb butter, Belgian waffles with chocolate sauce or something for the health conscious, granola, dried fruit and yoghurt. All of this can be washed down with award-winning Vittoria Coffee.

If a 3 course meal is more your style, come and try the dinner menu which changes seasonally and is prepared using regionally sourced produce. Match this with a selection of local wines for an unforgettable meal.

If you want to make a weekend of it, stay at the Cobb & Co Court Boutique Hotel, Mudgee. Relax in a beautifully appointed queen room or a New York style loft apartment, centrally located and adjoining The Wineglass.

Why not take an opportunity to enjoy all our gorgeous region has to offer? We’re so busy we often forget to appreciate this amazing place we live.

Now, any suggestions for our lunch date next week?

Cheers,

Sutho

Friday Feast – Outside The Square

Outside The Square

We visited on 18-11-16

The team headed down to Outside the Square Café to enjoy the spring day. The cafe offers great options for breakfast and lunch in a great family friendly environment. The small servery window for take away coffee is a hive of activity in the morning and the aroma of fresh baked muffins and cakes is hard to pass by.

The breakfast menu is very simple yet delicious with choices including French toast, buttermilk pancakes, toasted muesli, or Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine or Eggs Ocean (smoked salmon). For the big appetite tuck into The BIG Square with eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, potato rösti served with tomato relish. Accompany this with a Toby’s Estate Coffee or Toby’s Estate Organic tea to complete your morning.

If lunch is what you are after, then again the menu will satisfy your taste buds. The chicken burger seemed to be the popular choice on Friday, however the Cajun chicken Caesar salad was a personal favourite. Other lunch time options include a gourmet steak sandwich, the Greek lamb burger, various salads and choices of baguettes and bruschetta’s. To replenish the fluids on a warm day, select from milkshakes, smoothies, organic soft drinks and juices. Kids are not forgotten either with a number of options for the little appetite.

The focus of the owners and staff here at Outside The Square Café is to provide a family friendly place that serves coffee produced by ethical companies and also organic and natural options. Come in and meet the staff and see why everyone is starting to look Outside The Square Café.

Don’t forget to support Mudgee’s producers this Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and if you’re yet to tick off your shopping list this year, consider purchasing gifts and goodies that help support our local region.

There are so many fantastic local producers and businesses to choose from when it comes to finding special gifts for loved ones – after all, people travel from all over the country to sample what we can find down the road.

Mudgee wine is always a popular gift (particularly for our out-of-town friends), but there are plenty of other fantastic products you can find locally too, such as gourmet food and drinks, arts and craft, fashion and jewellery and much, much more. You can find these products by looking around town or by heading to local markets and events.

In fact, this Saturday 17 December the Mudgee Farmers Markets will be on outside the St Marys Church. This will be a great opportunity to pick up lots of yummy goods and special treats just before Christmas.

One of the great things about buying local is that you’re not only able to get your hands on some wonderful products, but you’re also helping to support our local community by doing so.

Every dollar spent locally helps return many times that amount to the local economy through things like employee wages, rates and the purchase of goods and materials. Shopping locally also helps reduce the global carbon footprint, as fewer goods need to be transported.

Local businesses also give a lot back to Mudgee by helping to support local schools, social services and not-for-profit organisations.

There are so many benefits to buying local and with so many people buying more than usual over the festive period, it’s a great excuse to find out what’s on our doorstep and support local business.

A wonderful list of local producers can be found at www.mudgeebusiness.com/local-produce.html. Head here to find out where to go to find out where you can buy the products you want.

And for those who own a local business or know of a great one in the Mudgee region, feel free to let everyone in the community know by leaving a comment here or over at our Facebook page, I Love Mudgee.

Happy shopping!
