Discover the beautiful heritage of Gulgong on the June long weekend when it comes alive for the Henry Lawson Heritage Festival.
This annual event celebrates the birthday of literary legend Henry Lawson with lots of exciting things to see and do, including poetry, markets, food and wine, grand parade, live music and vintage displays.
Visitors from far and wide will take to Gulgong’s streets for the festival to browse through local shops and market stalls, enjoying delicious local produce while getting an insight into what life was like for Henry Lawson back in the day, from his birth in 1867 to his death in 1922.
A few festival highlights to look forward to this year include the literary awards dinner and show, pilgrimage drive from Grenfell to Gulgong, heritage photos, pavement art, barrow or billy-cart, photo competition and exhibition, historic bus trip or walk, food fair and wine tasting, Gulgong Gold Cup country race day and a poet’s or writer’s morning tea.
If you’re planning on heading along and joining in on all the fun then why not make a weekend of it and book accommodation in town? Just make sure to book soon as you don’t want to miss out on your favourite place!
