The historical town of Gulgong will come alive next month for the annual Henry Lawson Heritage Festival.
Held over the June long weekend, the festival celebrates the birthday of literary legend, Henry Lawson.
This year is expected to be an especially big occasion, as it will be celebrating Henry’s 150th birthday! There will be a plethora of events to mark the occasion including poetry, markets, food and wine, grand parade, live music and vintage displays.
Visitors from far and wide are expected to take to Gulgong’s streets for the festival, browsing through local shops and market stalls and enjoying food and drinks in one of the many cafes. Musicians, bush dancing and heritage games will also be popular drawcards.
A few more festival highlights will include a literary awards dinner and show, pilgrimage drive from Grenfell to Gulgong, heritage photos, pavement art, barrow or billy-cart, photo competition and exhibition, historic bus trip or walk, food fair and wine tasting, Gulgong Gold Cup country race day and a poet’s or writer’s morning tea.
There will be plenty to see and do during the Henry Lawson Heritage Festival so mark June 9-11 2017 on your calendar now.
If you’re planning on booking accommodation for the festival weekend it’s best to do so as soon as possible in case your favourite place books out.
