The Gulgong Gold & Mining Festival is just around the corner, giving us all the chance to celebrate the town’s gold rush heritage with a range of exciting events on Saturday 14 October.
The festival will kick off from 10am with a parade going up Mayne Street, Gulgong that will lead to the Gulgong Gold Experience on Red Hill, where gold was first found in 1870.
The Gulgong Gold Experience will be open from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm. The entry fee will be a gold coin donation, with all proceeds to be donated to Breast Cancer research as part of the October Pink up Gulgong activities.
Visitors to the Gulgong Gold Experience will get the chance to learn more about Gulgong’s gold rush history where there are audio and visual displays and a new hands-on display of a replica 400oz gold bar donated by the ABC Bullion Company.
On the day there will also be gem and gold panning assisted by Gulgong Gold Experience Volunteers and a gold panning competition to be run by the Central West Prospecting Supplies, with fantastic prizes up for grabs.
If that’s not enough the festival will also feature food stalls and various market stalls, Cobb & Co Coach Rides, old-fashioned games, damper making and evening live music at the bowlo and plenty more fun activities.
