Mudgee’s Glen Willow Regional Sports Stadium is set to host four blockbuster NRL games.
In a two year partnership between the Mid-Western Regional Council and the NRL, the Glen Willow Stadium will play host to two St George Illawarra Dragons premiership home games and the 2018 and 2019 Charity Shield games featuring the Dragons and Rabbitohs.
All four games will be broadcast to a national audience.
The Mudgee community can look forward to the 2018 Charity Shield on Saturday 24 February followed by the St George Illawarra Dragons vs Canberra Raiders Round 11 game on Sunday 20 May.
It has also been reported that Paul McGregor may take his NRL team to Mudgee over summer for a pre-season training camp.
Hosting the games is a huge win for a small regional area like Mudgee, helping to boost the economy and providing local sports fans the opportunity to watch games in their hometown.
The community will also have the chance to meet players during local engagement activities in the lead-up to the game.
Previous games at Glen Willow such as the 2017 Country vs City Origin have brought in crowds from near and far. City spectators made a weekend of witnessing the game, staying in town and exploring local sights while they were here.
The upcoming games look set to be no exception and are sure to bring huge crowds to Mudgee.
