It’s time to tackle the annual task of spring-cleaning our homes, and to make things a little easier Mid-Western Regional Council residents are being offered free and safe disposal of unwanted garden and household chemicals.
All residents in the Mid-Western Council region are eligible to take advantage of the chemical cleanout, which provides an environmentally friendly way to dispose of household problem wastes.
Hazardous chemicals include things like paint products, pesticides, weed killers, solvents, household cleaners and even old gas bottles.
Most people have these kinds of materials somewhere in their home and they can be dangerous if they aren’t disposed of in the correct manner.
The Mudgee Waste Facility at 31 Blaine Road in Caerleon will be accepting unwanted chemicals on Sunday 22 October from 9am to 12pm, so Mudgee residents have plenty of time to clean out their homes and find items that need to be disposed of.
The following materials will be accepted on the day (household quantities only):
Aerosols, arsenic, batteries, cyanide, flares, fire extinguishers, gas bottles, fuels, fire extinguishers, oils, peroxides, paints, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photographic chemicals, poisons, smoke detectors, household and garden chemicals.
Residents are reminded to transport all materials safely inside a box or larger container to stop any spills.
The Household Cleanout is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
