Get out and about and enjoy one of the last weekends of winter by heading to Mudgee Fine Food’s Farm Walks taking place this Sunday 20th August.
This month’s Farm Walks will take visitors to Bacchus Range Farm and Australian Gourmet Hazelnuts.
Farm Walks are held throughout the year, offering a unique opportunity to meet local producers and hear how passionate they are about what they do.
At Bacchus Range Farm visitors will get to see a range of fresh produce. You might get the chance to see chokeberries, grapes, and almond, hazelnut and apricots trees in flower, and possibly some fruiting.
The farm is well known for its native limes, which should have fruit, with the bushes usually flowering around October/November.
There will also be orange, mandarin and grapefruit trees to see.
It’s a beautiful farm with plenty to see and after a coffee break it will be onto Australian Gourmet Hazelnuts.
Starting off with just 200 trees in 1997, Australian Gourmet Hazelnuts owners Clem and Vanessa Cox have developed a mix of Australian bred varieties.
The visit will include their 3000-tree nut orchard, propagation nursery and processing facility. Visitors will then get the chance to taste and purchase unique Australian hazelnuts, take home recipes, and learn why a handful a day promotes well-being.
