There’s only a couple of days left to visit the BreastScreen Mobile Van in Mudgee.
The van has been at the Mudgee Showgrounds since the beginning of November and it’s about to move on, but before it does, women over 40 are being encouraged to make an appointment for a free mammogram.
This free service is hugely beneficial to the community. Breast screening can help find cancers before they can be felt or noticed and there is a better chance of survival when breast cancer is found early.
Statistics show that 1 in 8 women in NSW will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and in the majority of cases there is no family history of the disease.
According to the BreastScreen NSW website, women aged between 50 – 74 years are encouraged to have a mammogram every two years and you can put a reminder to have it whenever the BreastScreen Van is in town. The van will return in October 2017 – January 2018.
If you haven’t been this year yet though, then make an appointment today. An appointment only takes 20 minutes and it could potentially help save your life, or at the very least provide peace of mind.
The van can be found at the Mudgee Showground on 96 Douro Street until January 18 and bookings can be made by calling 13 20 50 or by visiting the van in person.
Working towards the cure and prevention of breast cancer is extremely important to us here at Professionals Mudgee Real Estate being that we are Diamond Partners with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
We encourage everybody to learn more about breast cancer and how we can all help by visiting nbcf.org.au.
