Head to the banks of the Cudgegong River at Lawson Park off Short Street tomorrow between 11am and 4pm for the second annual 100 Mile Picnic!
Bring your picnic rug, some chairs and of course your family and friends, and enjoy the food and wine on offer from around the local Mudgee region. The 100 Mile Picnic is about getting all of the region’s local producers, wineries and chefs from within 100 miles (or 160 kilometers) of Mudgee together for a great event that’s sure not to disappoint.
Not only does the day consist of picnic treats, there’ll also be entertainment including yabbie races, cooking demonstrations and entertainment for the younger ones. One of the important messages of the event is to promote sustainable living, which includes knowing how far your food and goods have to travel to get to your home, because the greater the distance our food travels, the greater the greenhouse gas emissions that are produced.
Last year’s inaugural event saw thousands of people from around Mudgee, Sydney and Central regions in attendance, raising money for non-profit community facilities such as Pioneer House and Kanandah, to assist in the provision of the highest level of care to our aged community.
If you don’t have plans tomorrow, make sure you pull up a picnic rug at Mudgee’s 100 Mile Picnic!
