A week ago, the Mid-Western Region’s 'Citizen of the Year' was announced coinciding with Australia Day celebrations. We truly believe that Mudgee has a great community of people, and we thought that acknowledging one of Mudgee’s finest was in order.
This year's winner Mr John Staples, from Mudgee, was named as the Mid-Western Region’s Citizen of the Year for the time and effort he has dedicated to the community through the Rotary Club. It's people like Mr Staples who give their time, knowledge and show their undying passion for Mudgee that deserve the highest of accolades.
“Of Mr Staples’ achievements one that stands tall is his work in raising funds for the Care West Lodge, which will house cancer patients and their carers who undergo treatment at the new Orange Hospital. Mr Staples and Rotary raised more than $64,000 for a room and furnishings. This contribution has been recognised by naming it the 'Mudgee Room'.” (Mudgee Guardian)
To the people of Mudgee and indeed the entire Mid-Western Region, who put just as much passion and hard work into our community, we thank you for your community spirit.
