We all know what winter is like in Mudgee, so we thought today we’d share a few anecdotes that may help your winter appetite keep you healthy during the colder months.
The oldest and the best has to be morning porridge and honey, warm and sweet, and actually very good for you! Chop up some fresh fruit to go with it and you’re consuming all kinds of vitamins and minerals that help your immune system fight off colds and flu’s.
A very close second would have to be a good old fashioned roast dinner – the vegetables provide good nourishment and it is very tasty. Not to mention that using the oven will warm the house up too!
One of the favourites is soup, which you can feel warming you up from the inside. Blend in some vegetables and again, the vitamins and minerals will add to your immune system’s strength.
The best things to cook with are unprocessed vegetables and whole grains. Your appetite can help you to keep healthy this winter, that’s for sure, and buying non-processed foods can also save you some money as well. Bonuses all round!
