Any Mudgee resident knows that with the mind blowing number of events on during September and October, the calendar can start looking a little full. But keep in mind that there are other events happening in Mudgee all year round, and Mudgee’s Spring favourite would have to be Mudgee Races!
With spring only a couple of day, race season is kicking off on Sunday 5th of September (Fathers Day) with The Black Nugget Race Day. Last year (the inaugural running of The Black Nugget) over $50,000 was donated by sponsors for charity and this year proceeds will go to Pioneer House and Kanandah retirement homes. Also this year, Emma Freedman will be doing live crosses to the Weekend Today Show from the track with families invited to come out early (from 7am) for a free breakfast and complimentary passes to the races! So ladies, don your hats, and gents pull out that groovy outfit, and get to the Mudgee races for a great day!
If you’re keen to chat to other Mudgee race goers, jump onto the ‘Mudgee Races Rock’ facebook group and have a chat with people – who knows, you may even make a few friends and meet up with them at the races!
