If there’s one thing that makes kids go even crazier than school holidays, it’s Christmas school holidays. Six whole weeks of freedom, unburdened by responsibility of any kind (I’m sure that many of us are saying ‘ah, those were the days!’).
Sometimes growing up in the country can have what seems like a lack of activities for youngsters – luckily, Mudgee is one of the most diverse and interesting parts of the state. Here are my top tips for how to keep the little tackers occupied over Christmas.
Out and About
· School’s Out, Pool’s In – Kids in Kandos can splash their way into summer with a DJ, Sausage Sizzle and Pool party at Kandos Pool. Normal entry fee applies, but I’m sure they’ll have more than the normal amount of fun! December 16, 3:30pm to 7:30pm.
· Orana Arts Mini Makers – Orana Arts are running their popular arts classes for kids aged 8-15, so if you’ve got a budding Picasso on your hands then drop them at Kandos Community Hall from 10am-12pm or Mudgee CWA Hall from 2pm-4pm for some creative fun on the 14th of January.
· Real FM Pool Parties – Pool Parties are all the rage this year, so let’s hope for a good summer! Popular music station Real FM is throwing parties in Gulgong, Mudgee and Kandos on the 5th, 12th and 21st of January respectively. There will be DJ’s, give-aways and games, with the Pool Kiosks operating as normal for snacks.
· Tennis, Anyone? – The Rylstone and Cooyal Tennis tournaments are on again this summer on the 18th and 25th of January. There are prizes for the winners and a free BBQ for everyone who participates!
