Every year Professionals branches around the country devote attention to a worthy cause at Christmas. This year is no exception with our chosen charity being the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal 2010, and we’d like to take a moment to talk personally about our belief in this important cause.
Every year thousands of people succumb to the pressures of everyday life and become homeless. Others may have no friends or family to talk to over the festive season, or might not be able to afford basics like food. Up to 5000 people a day have no idea where they’re going to sleep. We ask you to take a minute and think about how it would feel to not know where or how you’d be spending Christmas Eve.
St Vincent De Paul provides shelter, food and basic comforts for as many people as they can, this Christmas Professionals Mudgee would like to make that number as high as we can. We’ll be collecting dry and tinned foods, as well as small toys for kids in our area and around the country.
Give us a call if you’re interested in contributing to our office appeal and we’ll let you know what sort of items we’re accepting this year. Generally, food and everyday items are preferred over large toys. If you would like to give a gift for children, small practical items that are easily transported such as colouring-in and activity books with pencils or crayons is a thoughtful way to give newly homeless kids a creative distraction.
If you can’t organise anything but would still like to give, then please head to their website where you can make a financial donation.
